The tale of the three brothers is basically the deathly hallows. Three brothers meet Death and each ask for something. One asks for a powerful wand that requires the owner to be killed and who so ever kills the current owner is the new owner. Death gets this brother. Another asks for a stone to see the dead. He sees his dead lover and kills himself and Death gets him too. The last brother asks for an invisiblity cloak and manages to evade Death by hiding under the cloak.
